Description

Built on the beautiful coastline of Paralia, Katerini in Northern Greece, Mediterranean Village is a 5-star luxury hotel complex covering a total area of 45,000m2, with several autonomous and partially connected buildings. The proximity to the Mediterranean Sea posed a risk to the reinforced concrete basement structure with (one and two levels below ground and sea level). Complete waterproofing and protection from corrosion and chloride penetration, and resistance to carbonation was needed.


Products Used

PENETRON ADMIX was added to fresh concrete (a total of 3,500m3) at the time of batching, and successfully used to create a white tank structure – a completely waterproof structure without the addition of any topical applied products such as membranes or cementitious coatings. All construction joints were treated with PENEBAR SW swellable-type waterstops (1,600m).
