Crawfordsville Salt Storage Building

Crawfordsville, IN, USA

Description

Designed by Fosse & Associates Architects, the $1.55 million open-sided salt storage building is located just off I-74 interstate highway. Built on a concrete foundation, a solution was needed to protect the pores and cracks in concrete and embedded steel rebar from corrosion due to chloride ion penetration from the road salt and the liquid salt mix.

Products Used

The concrete walls and slab sides of the salt storage building were protected by adding PENETRON ADMIX SB to 1,150 yds3 of concrete, which ensures resistance to chloride ion permeability.
