Gagau Clinic Maternity Hospital

Tbilisi, Georgia

Description

Striking architecture, vibrant colors and a unique trapezoidal shape distinguish the Gagau Clinic maternity hospital in the Georgian capital city of Tbilisi. The 100-bed facility features four surgical units, a cafeteria, pharmacy and administrative offices. The hospital has six floors, as well as two underground floors, including a parking garage. Along with its trapezoidal shape, the building presents a distinctly different façade on each of its three sides.

Products Used

From the underground parking garage to the polished floors and interior columns, concrete was used extensively in the construction, and the PENETRON system of products proved essential. PENETRON ADMIX was used to waterproof walls and basement slabs. PENEBAR SW waterstop was applied to guarantee impermeability between construction joints. PENETRON, PENECRETE MORTAR and PENEPLUG were used to prevent ground waters from penetrating into the elevator shafts and basement, ensuring a dry and durable parking garage.
