Description
The grain tunnel in Corabia, Romania is used to move grain for storage and transport on the Danube River. The tunnel is located only 50 m (170 feet) from the river and the resulting high water table made waterproofing of the whole structure imperative.
Products Used
The contractor specified PENETRON materials to block any water penetration into the grain transport tunnel. PENECRETE MORTAR was used to fill and seal cracks in the concrete and seal the construction slab. PENETRON crystalline waterproofing material was applied to the concrete surfaces in two successive layers of 3,000 m2 (35,000 square feet). The threat of water seeping into the tunnel have been resolved in time for the autumn harvest.
