Description
Meeting the growing Fortville community’s increasing demand for potable water, a completely new water treatment plant was built to replace the 1955 facility, which had reached the end of its service life. The durability of the concrete holding tanks in the new water treatment plant depends primarily on the protection of the imbedded steel reinforcement from corrosion.
Products Used
PENETRON ADMIX SB, an NSF 61-certified admixture for potable water applications, was specified to protect the new facility’s concrete structures from constant exposure to water. The admixture was added to the concrete mix for all treatment and holding tanks, including the base mat, walls, columns, structural slab, and soffits – for complete protection from concrete deterioration.
