Norilsk Nickel Combine

Norilsk, Russia

Description

The factory is in Norilsk, the world's northernmost city located in western Siberia above the Arctic Circle, with approximately 100,000 inhabitants. Norilsk has an extremely harsh subarctic climate and is covered with snow for about 250–270 days per year, with snow storms for about 110–130 days. The "midnight sun" is above the horizon from May 21st to July 24th, and a period with continuous darkness, “polar nights”, is from November 30th to January 13th. The soil remains permanently frozen; permafrost and tundra cover most of the region. Norilsk Nickel Combine is the world's leading producer of nickel and palladium, ranked among the top ten copper producers globally. The NorNickel Company started purchasing the PENETRON System over a year ago for the ongoing renovation of the factory buildings, the majority of which were built in 1920s and later refurbished in 1950s.

Products Used

Norilsk Nickel used the entire PENETRON System of products to the repair its shops and infrastructure. The PENETRON System has proved the factory great durability in the harsh permafrost climate.
