Description
The Novo Sverdlovskaya Thermal Power Station, with a 550 MW capacity, uses natural gas for heat production. The plant provides heat and power to the city of Yekaterinburg and surrounding area, encompassing about 1.5 million people. A 27-km (17-mile) pipeline that supplies the power plant with water from the Beloyarsk water basin has been an ongoing source of problems due to corrosion. After numerous conventional repair efforts proved ineffective, the plant owner tapped PENETRON for a viable solution.
Products Used
Using a unique process of cutting into the pipeline and inserting a device to spray a shotcrete mixture treated with PENETRON ADMIX on the pipe interior, the most recent repair effort based on PENETRON’s crystalline technology has provided excellent results and sealed all cracks. This method has also been used on the cooling towers with similar positive results.
