Description
Because of substantial damage to the concrete surfaces of the U.S. Highway 45 bridge over the Kansas City Southern Railroad line due to water intrusion and accompanying freeze-thaw cycles, the Mississippi DOT mandated a full renovation of the bridge. The $2.4 million project included replacement of the southbound bridge deck, repairs on the northbound bridge, joint sealing, bearing and beam repairs, and coating of the structural steel.
Products Used
B&B Concrete, the project’s ready-mix concrete supplier, specified PENETRON ADMIX for the bridge overlay repairs – based on packaging, dosage rate, and pricing. The PENETRON ADMIX-treated concrete is now impermeable to any further water (or road salts) intrusion.
